Who We Are
Mindful Innovations is a Virginia therapy practice built by clinicians who spent years in residential, crisis, in-home, and community settings before opening an outpatient practice. We started it to do the work the way we wished it had been done: evidence-based, unhurried, and shaped around the person in front of us.
What that looks like in practice: you are matched with a clinician whose training fits your situation, not the next open slot. We use approaches with real evidence behind them (EMDR, DBT, RO-DBT, CBT, IFS, somatic work) and we tell you plainly what we are doing and why.
We are known for trauma treatment (EMDR), emotion regulation (DBT and RO-DBT), substance use and recovery, and psychosexual evaluation and treatment. Several of our clinicians supervise and train other therapists in these areas.

Our story:
Mindful Innovations was started in 2024 by Ashli and Ryan, two counselors who had spent the better part of two decades in the places where people are struggling hardest: intensive in-home programs, residential treatment, crisis and inpatient units, correctional settings, and the community services boards that hold it all together. We led teams and built programs there, and we learned what good care takes and what gets in its way.
We opened this practice to do the work the way we always wanted to: with enough time, with clinicians trained in approaches that actually hold up, and with the person in front of us shaping the plan. Today we are a team of therapists across Virginia who share that intent, and we still see clients ourselves, because being in the room is the part we never wanted to give up.
