Substance Use, Addiction and Recovery Therapy in Virginia
Mindful Innovations provides outpatient therapy for adults and teens who want to change their relationship with alcohol, drugs or other addictive behaviors. We see clients online anywhere in Virginia.
Whether you're questioning your drinking, ready to quit, or working to stay in recovery, we'll meet you where you are, without judgment.
Our Approach to Addiction Treatment
Addiction is a treatable health condition, not a character flaw. We focus on understanding why substances or behaviors became a way to cope, and on building a life where you need them less.
Your goals guide treatment. For some people that means abstinence; for others it starts with cutting back or reducing harm. We also treat the anxiety, depression or trauma that often goes along with substance use, because recovery lasts longer when both are addressed together.

Is Outpatient Therapy the Right Level of Care?
We provide weekly outpatient therapy which works well for people who are medically stable and can stay safe between sessions.
If you need medical detox, residential treatment or medication for addiction treatment, we'll help you find the right program and can coordinate with your doctor or prescriber. Stopping alcohol, benzodiazepines or opioids suddenly can be dangerous, so talk with a medical provider before you quit.
What to Expect When You Start
Your first session is an assessment. Your therapist will ask about your substance use, health, mental health and goals, then recommend a treatment plan and level of care.
Sessions are usually [50–60] minutes, weekly at first. Everything you share is confidential, with the limited legal exceptions your therapist will explain at the start.
